Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud celebrates his 89th birthday

Official celebrations took place on 31 December, 2024

Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud was born on 31 December, 1935 in the city of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Salman bin Abdulaziz was appointed as Acting Governor of Riyadh Region at the age of 19. After a year, he was assigned as the Governor at the rank of minister in 1955.

During King Salman's reign as Governor of the Riyadh region, many infrastructure projects were implemented, including motorways, schools, hospitals, universities, museums, sports stadiums, and the preparation of the Riyadh Metro project. This is reported by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

Salman bin Abdulaziz took the oath of allegiance as King of Saudi Arabia on 23 January 2015. Since then, it has been the 10th anniversary of his inauguration as leader of the state.

Besides government duty, for many years, Saudi Arabia’s King has chaired a variety of humanitarian and service committees. For his humanitarian contributions, he has been awarded numerous medals and orders, including United Nations awards.
