TV BRICS International Media Network to support development of BRICS Marathon League

TV BRICS International Media Network will act as an international media partner of the BRICS Marathon League. This is a new project created in 2023 with the support of the Ministry of Sport of the Russian Federation. Initially, the league united the largest running events in Russia: the Kazan Marathon, the Moscow Marathon and the White Nights Marathon in St. Petersburg. In the future, they will be joined by popular races of other BRICS countries: Brazil, India, China, South Africa and new members of the group.

Using its wide network of media partners around the world, TV BRICS will help popularise the BRICS Marathon League in the BRICS+ media space and assist the project in establishing and developing international relations in the field of sports, culture and tourism.

The first launch of the BRICS Marathon League in 2024 was held with the support of TV BRICS in the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan. In May, about 30,000 runners from 14 countries took part in the Kazan Marathon.
"We are honoured that it was the Kazan Marathon that opened the first season of the BRICS Marathon League. This significant and potentially grandiose project is based in Russia, but negotiations are already underway for other countries to join it. These issues were discussed, among other things, on the margins of the XV International Economic Forum 'Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum 2024'. I am confident that the BRICS Marathon League events supported by TV BRICS will be a serious help for the development of mass sports, running tourism and cultural exchange between sports enthusiasts from different countries," said Vadim Yangirov, Director of the Kazan Marathon.

The next event of the BRICS Marathon League will be the 33rd White Nights Marathon, which will take place on 29 June in St. Petersburg, followed by the Moscow Marathon on 13 October in the heart of the Russian capital.

"We have launched the BRICS Marathon League project, which this year will unite the three largest marathons in Russia, and in the future, the most significant running events of the BRICS countries. We believe that this will become a stimulus for the development of Russian athletics and the growth of professional and amateur sports results. It will also give a strong impetus to increase tourist flow, strengthen international relations and exchange of cultural experience. We hope that our cooperation with TV BRICS will help us to cover the League's news as widely as possible and open new horizons for us," said Dmitry Tarasov, Director of the White Nights Marathon and the Moscow Marathon.

In the Year of Russia's BRICS Chairmanship, the media network will support a number of key events in the field of physical culture and sports, including the BRICS Sports Games to be held in Kazan on 12-23 June, the XII International Forum "Russia – a Sports Power" (October, Ufa), and League of Heroes projects.
