UAE institutions sign MoU to support scientific research related to archaeological excavations

UAE institutions sign MoU to support scientific research related to archaeological excavations

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Khalifa University of Science and Technology and Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) to strengthen collaboration and exchange best practices and experiences in areas linked to archaeological digs in Dubai. This is reported by Emirates News Agency (WAM), a partner of TV BRICS.

In order to locate any buried structures, tombs, or remains at archaeological sites, the MoU will support continuing excavations utilising cutting-edge geophysical survey techniques and satellite remote sensing technologies created by scientists and researchers at Khalifa University.

The source also revealed that the exploration will make use of cutting-edge methods for processing the artefacts, enabling scientists to build three-dimensional representations of the locations and situate them in the proper context of archaeology and the environment.

The CEO of the Culture and Heritage Sector at Dubai Culture, Muna Faisal Algurg, emphasised the value of establishing connections with national academic and research institutions and noted that the city's archaeological sites are a wealth of information, particularly for scholars attempting to comprehend how Dubai and other civilisations interacted. The mapping and excavation of these sites have produced a wealth of unique artefacts that are a valuable resource for studies pertaining to Dubai's antiquities and ancient history.
