Chile considers strengthening cooperation with BRICS

The country has received an invitation to participate in the BRICS Summit in July

Chilean Under-Secretary of Foreign Relations Gloria de la Fuente, confirmed that the country maintains the possibility of joining the BRICS+ group, emphasising the government's interest in continuing to evaluate this option as part of its political and commercial diversification strategy.

Responding to El Ciudadano question, a partner of TV BRICS, the official stressed that the country was invited to participate in BRICS summit, which reflects international recognition of its institutional strength and international projection.

"Chile will be ready to continue evaluating these opportunities," she said.

In addition, the Chilean Under-Secretary of Foreign Relations noted the need to shift from commodity exports to the development of processing industries within the country. Chile, according to her, should choose partners that invest in environmentally friendly technologies and add value to raw materials within the country.

In conclusion, the diplomat emphasised that Chile will continue to evaluate the prospects for participation in new groups, including BRICS, taking into account national interests and the principles of fair and mutually beneficial cooperation.
