China and Vietnam open new border corridors to boost trade and tourism
China and Vietnam have taken a significant step towards enhancing bilateral relations with the opening of two temporary border corridors. These new crossings connect Babu Township and Yangwan Township in China’s Wenshan Zhuang and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province, to Vietnam's An Minh and Quan Ba counties, facilitating seamless travel and trade for border communities.
The new corridors are expected to boost trade in essential goods such as agricultural tools and daily necessities, providing an economic lifeline to local businesses. This is reported by CCTV+, a partner of TV BRICS.
In the first half of the year, Wenshan recorded a staggering 386,000 entry and exit trips, marking a 385.4 per cent increase compared to the same period last year. This surge is attributed to a combination of relaxed visa policies, growing cross-border tourism, and intensified trade activities.
The corridors are poised to further enhance this growth by offering easier access for both residents and international visitors, strengthening cultural exchanges and economic ties between China and Vietnam.
As China continues to expand its visa-free policies and invest in border infrastructure, these initiatives are expected to set the stage for greater regional integration and mutual prosperity.
