China Unveils Industrial Equipment Upgrade Action Plan

To drive the concept of intelligent factories forward, emerging technologies like artificial intelligence and 5G

China introduced an action plan aimed at promoting the modernization of industrial equipment. Focused on digital transformation and sustainability, this initiative is part of broader efforts to bolster effective investment and drive high-quality development.

The comprehensive action plan, jointly crafted by seven key government departments - including the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, outlines a strategy to increase industrial equipment investment by over 25 per cent during the period 2023-2027. This is reported by CCTV+, a partner of TV BRICS.

With a sharp focus on digital transformation, the plan highlights the enhancement of equipment in key sectors such as numerical control machine tools, industrial robots, intelligent logistics, and sensing technologies. Notably, the plan includes promoting the use of unmanned transport vehicles in raw materials manufacturing and encouraging the integration of smart machines tailored to diverse product requirements in consumer goods manufacturing.

To drive the concept of intelligent factories forward, emerging technologies like artificial intelligence, 5G, and edge computing will be leveraged to optimize factory production processes. Initiatives to digitize industrial production lines, thereby enabling flexible manufacturing and intelligent management practices, are also on the agenda.
