Chinese scientists create brand-new technique for crystallising materials
These kinds of crystals can be used to change infrared light frequencies
Chinese scientists have created an innovative crystal-growing technique that greatly enhances the structural controllability of the resulting crystals. This is reported by Xinhua News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.
Crystals are essential components used in modern computers, networking, aircraft, and laser technologies. It is anticipated that the new production process will boost chip computing capacity and enable the development of novel electronic and photonic integrated circuits.
Large-sized crystals are often created by depositing tiny crystal particles in bottom-up layers on the surface of atoms. To properly deposit and form crystals, this approach is constrained by the requirement to carefully choose the types and distribution methods of atoms.
A new technique that scientists have created allows them to accurately manage the arrangement of atoms. This allows them to increase the crystal development rate to 50 layers per minute, with the total number maximised to 15,000.
