Egypt to change regulations for health facilities

New rules presented by the country's Minister of Health and Population

Egyptian Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar presented the first version of the basic regulations for health facilities.

It included family planning services and comprehensive health care for women during pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding and children under five years of age. It also provides a wide range of health services for all citizens through primary health care facilities across the country, including detection and management of chronic diseases and provision of necessary continuing care. This is reported by Daily News Egypt, a partner of TV BRICS.

At the event, the minister noted that the health sector in Egypt is undergoing administrative reform, and updating outdated regulations will provide flexibility for future changes and amendments. He also said that a board of directors will be established for each health centre.

Abdel Ghaffar emphasised that all regulations governing the sectors and bodies of the Ministry of Health and Population are currently being worked on, and the new updates will generate revenue that will be used to supplement the state health budget and improve the system.

The regulations will provide health care for all citizens. This will be achieved through providing treatment at public expense, supporting free treatment and eliminating queues for urgent and critical surgeries.
