It aims to provide the market with livestock products at an affordable price
Egyptian authorities have approved the allocation of EGP 307,4 million Egyptian pounds (US$10 million) for a cattle fattening project. This is reported by Daily News Egypt, a partner of TV BRICS. More than 400 cattle breeders will receive the funds.
The initiative was approved by the The Board of Directors of the national project for fattening cattle, chaired by Elsayed Elkosayer, the Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation.
It is a part of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi "Decent Life" programme to develop the Egyptian countryside and improve the living standards of small farmers and livestock farmers.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation said that the total funding allocated to the project so far is approximately EGP 8,6 billion (US$ 278 million). Some 43,500 beneficiaries have received the funds to raise and fatten more than 505,000 cattle. The measure helped provide the market with more meat and dairy products, the ministry added.
