First-ever India-Kazakhstan container train to strengthen North-South trade corridor
The train’s route spans multiple countries, covering 1,585 km by sea and 4,300 km by rail
The first-ever container train from India to Kazakhstan has been launched, marking a major milestone in Eurasian trade connectivity. This is reported by Kazinform, a partner of TV BRICS.
The shipment consists of 12 twenty-foot containers carrying ceramic tiles from biggest India's port to Astana’s station, according to the Kazakhstan officials.
The train’s route spans multiple countries, covering 1,585 km by sea and 4,300 km by rail, passing through Iran, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan. Depending on port congestion at Bandar Abbas, Iran, the estimated delivery time is between 25 and 30 days.
Kazakhstan has emphasised that this transportation is part of the expansion of container services along the eastern branch of the North-South Corridor. This strategic corridor significantly reduces transit time, lowers transportation costs, and enhances trade opportunities for exporters and importers across participating nations.
