This year's super moon coincides with a partial lunar eclipse
The first month of autumn will be marked by a rare astronomical phenomenon: full moon, super moon and partial lunar eclipse can be observed on the same day. "Harvest Moon" will rise in the sky on 18 September.
Lunar eclipses occur about twice a year when the Sun, Earth and Moon are aligned and the Moon falls under the shadow of Earth. This is reported by Extra!, a partner of TV BRICS.
There are three types of lunar eclipses: total eclipse, partial eclipse, and penumbral eclipse.
"Harvest Moon" is the full moon that occurs closest to the autumn equinox. The name comes from the fact that at this time of year, the Moon rises just after sunset and illuminates the earth throughout the night.
The eclipse is called a partial eclipse because only part of the Moon's disc will pass through the Earth's shadow, it will take more than an hour. The total duration of the eclipse will be about 4.5 hours.
