From January to April 2025, rice production in the country may reach 13.95 million tonnes, an increase of 25.99 per cent compared to the same period last year. This is reported by Xinhua News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.
Statistics Indonesia (BPS) estimates the rice harvest will reach 12.71 million tonnes in February-April 2025.
BPS Head Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti, said the figure would be the highest in the past seven years. In addition, in January 2025, the production of unpolished rice was 2.16 million tonnes, 42.32 per cent higher than the same period in 2024 (1.52 million tonnes).
According to forecasts, the total production of unpolished rice in January-April 2025 could reach 24.22 million tonnes. Widyasanti emphasised that the actual figures could change depending on climatic conditions.
