Iran unveils smart farming system to boost water efficiency and crop productivity

Over 100 smart irrigation pilot projects have been implemented across the country

Iran's Ministry of Agriculture has announced the nationwide implementation of an advanced smart farming system as part of the third phase of its national crop pattern reform, aiming to enhance water efficiency and agricultural productivity. This is reported by Tehran Times, a partner of TV BRICS.

The initiative, spearheaded by Gholamreza Golmohammadi, Iran's Deputy Minister of Agriculture, integrates real-time monitoring of cultivated areas, crop types, and farm management practices.

In addition to the crop pattern reform, over 100 smart irrigation pilot projects have been implemented across the country.

The ministry has also prepared draft patterns for horticultural and aquaculture products, submitted to specialised agencies for review, and published the first volume of a training manual on improving crop productivity.

Experts claimed that these efforts align with Iran's broader agricultural strategy to increase output and efficiency while introducing reform measures for sustainable farming practices.
