Russian Soyuz-2.1a rocket goes to the ISS

The rocket was launched from Baikonur Cosmodrome

A Soyuz-2.1a rocket with a Progress MS-28 cargo ship has launched from Russia's Baikonur Cosmodrome, the world's largest cosmodrome located in Kazakhstan. This is reported by Xinhua News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.

The ship will deliver more than 2.6 tonnes of cargo to the International Space Station (ISS), with 1.2 tonnes of dry cargo for station systems and ISS crew, including equipment, scientific experiments, clothing, food, medical supplies, and fuel.

The spacecraft will fly according to the traditional two-day scheme and will dock at the Zvezda (Star) module of the Russian segment of the ISS at 8.56 Moscow time on August 17.

In addition, the Progress carries 950 kilogrammes of fuel to refuel the station, 420 kilogrammes of drinking water, and 50 kilogrammes of nitrogen to replenish the ISS atmosphere.

The duration of the Progress MS-28 flight is expected to be 179 days.
