Saudi Arabia and Argentina desired to join the BRICS grouping
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Saudi Arabia and Argentina were interested in joining the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) format, as reported by NKI BRICS, a partner of the TV BRICS International Media Network.
"Our Saudi friends and Argentina have declared through its Foreign Minister Santiago Cafiero their desire to become full-fledged members of BRICS and they are showing interest in the partnership," Lavrov said in an interview with RT Arabic.
The minister said another BRICS summit was currently being prepared. "Within its framework, an outreach format will be created, where a lot of developing economies will participate," the Russian foreign minister said.
The minister also added that "many countries in the Arab world have shown interest in partnering with the SCO, where all the other leading sub-regions of our common vast continent are represented."
