South African director Johan Badenhorst will undertake a large-scale expedition across Russian cities – from Murmansk to Magadan – following which he will create a multi-episode documentary film. The journey will take place from 30 April to 10 July. The TV BRICS International Media Network will serve as the international information partner of the project.

In the film, the author aims to introduce global audiences to the multinational culture, traditions, way of life of Indigenous peoples, architecture, and nature of Russia. During the journey, the film crew plans to visit more than 30 regions of the country, including both major regional centres and small settlements and villages.

The expedition will travel in two Ural trucks, which will serve both as transport and as a mobile home for the team. The total length of the route will exceed 20,000 kilometres.

Johan Badenhorst is a South African director, producer, and documentary filmmaker. Over 25 years, he has undertaken 13 expeditions, covering 400,000 kilometres. His documentary projects have been filmed across Africa, Madagascar, and India. He has previously visited Russia – in 2020, when he was planning the expedition.
