Vietnam is expected to lead the ASEAN region in the number of AI businesses
Vietnam's AI startup sector is experiencing growth, fuelled by rising domestic demand and a wave of new regulations and policies favouring development. This is reported by Vietnam News Agency (VNA), a partner of TV BRICS.
Chu Duc Trinh, Rector of the University of Engineering and Technology, under the Vietnam National University, stressed that Vietnam is expected to lead the ASEAN region in the number of AI businesses. He noted that organisations in sectors such as education, healthcare and especially e-commerce are increasingly using AI technologies to improve efficiency and reduce workload.
Rapid digital transformation across various industries including healthcare, finance, manufacturing, and retail is fuelling the demand for AI applications that improve operational efficiency and customer experience.
Local AI entrepreneurs argue that active technological research is the key to developing innovative businesses in the AI sector. Research institutes, universities and technology organisations should be the foundation for such growth.
Vietnam currently has around 50 universities specialising in information technology, more than 20 organisations certified to conduct scientific and technological activities, and numerous technology communities and associations that help the AI ecosystem flourish.
