Vietnam launches national tourism data platform

New data-driven tools and rising visitor numbers highlight the transformation of Vietnam’s tourism sector

Vietnam has marked a new milestone in tourism development by welcoming its 20 millionth international visitor and launching a data platform, the country’s first national digital platform dedicated exclusively to the tourism sector. The achievements reflect the country’s rapid recovery and digital transformation of the industry. This is reported by Vietnam News Agency (VNA), a partner of TV BRICS.

According to recent assessments by the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UN Tourism) and the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), Vietnam is among the world’s fastest-growing tourism markets, with growth exceeding 21 per cent. This performance stands out amid ongoing post-pandemic adjustments across the global tourism sector.

The digital platform, developed with the support of the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism and national data institutions, is designed as a unified digital ecosystem for government agencies, businesses, and travellers. It enables real-time monitoring of visitor flows, destination capacity, and market trends, supporting more effective tourism governance.

In addition, the platform functions as an AI-powered travel assistant, allowing visitors to plan personalised itineraries, book accommodation and transport, manage trips within a single interface, and receive live updates on weather conditions, crowd levels, and destination changes. Officials state this approach strengthens Vietnam’s global tourism image by offering reliable and official information to international travellers.

Authorities note that the platform also provides businesses with access to market analytics and visitor behaviour data, helping them identify high-value markets and adapt services to international demand.

According to Emirates News Agency (WAM), a partner of TV BRICS, Dubai is implementing a contactless hotel registration system based on biometric data, which allows guests to complete check-in from their mobile phones and access more quickly on subsequent visits through facial recognition, as part of a long-term economic development strategy.

China, meanwhile, leads the world in UNESCO-listed intangible cultural heritage, with 44 recognised elements, and has strengthened the preservation and dissemination of this heritage through digital platforms, live broadcasts and the use of artificial intelligence. Academic institutions and research centres are developing technological tools to support cultural innovation while expanding public and community participation in local cultural industries, reports Global Times, a partner of TV BRICS.

Meanwhile, according to Daily News Egypt, a partner of TV BRICS, Egypt is moving forward with the creation of a national digital wellness tourism platform, conceived as a unified booking system for medical and health services. The initiative seeks to facilitate the arrival of international patients, guarantee quality and safety standards, and position the country among the top 10 global medical tourism destinations by 2030.
