23 productions to be shown at International Festival of Student Plays Your Chance | GITIS fest

The event is held for the fourth year

The international festival of student plays "Your Chance | GITIS fest" will be held from 15 to 30 April in Moscow. It is a joint project of the Russian Institute of Theatre Arts – GITIS, a partner of TV BRICS and the Theatre Centre "On Strastnoy". The event will be held with the support of TV BRICS.

The event will bring together theatre graduates from Belgrade (Serbia), Voronezh, Yekaterinburg, Kostanay (Kazakhstan), Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, New Delhi (India), St. Petersburg, Saratov, Tambov, Shanghai (China), Yakutsk and Yaroslavl.

A special event of the festival is a performance by the Kostanai Russian Drama Theatre (Kazakhstan) – the work of a creative team of GITIS graduates.

"This year we are holding the festival for the fourth time. The main news for both ourselves and the audience is that for the first time we are organising it in cooperation with the Theatre Centre of the Russian Federation's STD ‘On Strastnoy’. We have joined forces with the Your Chance festival, which has been running for 20 years. In addition, as last time, we are inviting to the festival performances staged by creative teams of GITIS graduates. It is important for us that these works are seen by the Moscow audience"

Grigory Zaslavsky Rector of GITIS

"The festival ‘Your Chance’ is a platform for meeting students and graduates of different schools, their potential employers and Moscow viewers who can see the future stars of theatre and cinema today. This year we are celebrating our 20th anniversary. In its honour we are organising a special project - a joint festival with GITIS, our regular participant, long-time friend and partner," said Director and Artistic Director of the Theatre Centre "On Strastnoy" of the STD of the Russian Federation Mikhail Pushkin.

Simone Pricoli de Mello, Head of the Centre for the Study of Stanislavsky's System at the Macunaima Theatre School (Sao Paulo, Brazil), will be a special guest of the event.

"Your Chance | GITIS fest" is a competitive festival: the best performance will be performed on the stage of the Theatre Centre of the STD of the Russian Federation "On Strastnoy" for a whole season.

Master classes on acting, stage speech and stage movement from leading teachers of GITIS and other theatre schools – guests of the festival – will also be held for all participants of the event.

In parallel with the theatre programme there will be an exhibition of works by young artists dedicated to the memory of Oleg Sheintzis. Anyone will be able to visit it and look at the sketches and models made by students and recent graduates.

Entrants will also get their chance. Teachers from Moscow's leading theatre universities will listen to each enrollee, comment on the selected works and the manner of presentation, give advice and help prepare them morally for the real entrance.

In the Theatre Centre of the Union of Theatre Workers of the Russian Federation "On Strastnoy" their performances will be shown by the Mikhail Shchepkin Higher Theatre School, The Boris Shchukin Theatre Institute, School-Studio (Institute) named after V. I. Nemirovich-Danchenko of the Moscow Art Academy Theatre named after A.P. Chekhov, the Russian Institute of Theatre Arts – GITIS, The S. A. Gerasimov All-Russian State University of Cinematography, Institute of Contemporary Art, Moscow State Technical University named after L. Filatov, Russian State Institute of Performing Arts, St. Petersburg State University of Film and Television and others.

Actors from the Russian Theatre in Belgrade, the Kostanay Russian Drama Theatre, the National School of Drama of India, the Derzhavin Tambov State University, the Shanghai Theatre Academy and the Arctic State Institute of Culture and Arts will take to the stage of the GITIS Training Theatre.
