Belarus wins ten medals at international taekwondo tournament in UAE

Belarusian taekwondo athletes secured a total of ten medals at a major international tournament held in Fujairah, the United Arab Emirates, demonstrating a strong and consistent performance across several age categories, as reported by BelTA, a partner of TV BRICS.

The final day of competition featured bouts among athletes under the age of 15. In the boys’ division, Ivan Strunets claimed gold in the under-45 kg category, while Maksim Plyshevsky finished second in the under-49 kg weight class. In the girls’ competition, Evgeniya Shubina earned a bronze medal in the under-44 kg category.

Earlier in the tournament, Belarusian competitors collected four medals in the senior divisions, while three more athletes reached the podium in junior events. Overall, the national team concluded the competition with three gold, two silver and five bronze medals, underlining its depth across age groups.

The tournament in Fujairah brought together taekwondo athletes from around 50 countries, making it one of the largest international events on the calendar and a key test for both emerging talents and experienced fighters.

Athletes from Kazakhstan also reached the podium, winning three bronze medals in different weight categories, further highlighting the competitive level of the event, according to Kazinform, a partner of TV BRICS.

The results reflect the growing presence of Eastern European and Central Asian teams on the international taekwondo stage, as countries continue to invest in youth development and competitive exposure through high-level international tournaments.
