Chinese Foreign Minister supports Saudi Arabia's early accession to BRICS
Saudi Arabia has been granted the status of a dialogue partner of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation
Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang on Thursday, 6 April, spoke in a meeting with his Saudi counterpart Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud in support of Saudi Arabia's early accession to BRICS (the organisation includes Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa), said the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
"I congratulate Saudi Arabia on becoming a dialogue partner of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation. We support your country's early accession to BRICS," stressed Qin Gang, as reported by TASS.
As the Chinese foreign minister clarified, Beijing seeks to engage with Riyadh to jointly "firmly defend true multilateral formats", defend a multipolar world, and help increase the influence of developing countries in resolving international issues.
