Films by BRICS+ directors to be shown at the Samara International Film Festival
The XVII International Film Festival " Salt of the Earth” will be held in Samara from 16 to 20 September. TV BRICS is the international media partner of the event.
The festival programme includes more than 70 documentaries by Russian directors and their colleagues from Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and Serbia. There will also be retrospective screenings of 20th century films.
A special programme of non-fiction films from the BRICS+ countries will also be presented. The audience will see works by directors from Argentina, Brazil, UAE, India and Iran. The films “The Trombonists”, “Between Worlds – The Life and Work of Elena Antipova”, “The Story of Hope”, “In Return, Just a Book” and “Noqte” (Point) talk about different aspects of life of the peoples of these countries: from the development of high technology and the work of modern musicians to history and culture.
According to Emir Valinejad, Iranian director and author of the film “Noqte”, the festival allows viewers to learn about little-known aspects of the BRICS countries' culture.

In addition, as part of the festival's out-of-competition screening, the audience will see the TV BRICS documentary “Dostoevsky intercontinental”. This is a joint project of the joint editorial office of the media network and its partners from Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. Renowned researchers of the Russian writer's work, as well as actors from BRICS countries took part in the filming. Ivan Zakharenko, the creator of the film and Head of Thematic Broadcasting and Special Media Projects Department at TV BRICS, will give a master class.
The International Film Festival “Salt of the Earth” has been held since 2008 to preserve Russia's spiritual and historical heritage and strengthen the international dialogue of cultures. The event is organised by the Samara Regional Public Fund “Volga Historical and Cultural Foundation”.
