Iran reveals world's oldest animation

The ancient petroglyphs and carvings of this area were first introduced to the global community in 1969

Lorestan province has been spotlighted as the origin of the world’s earliest animation, according to Lorestan province's tourism chief, Ata Hassanpour. He highlighted the ancient rock engravings, which depict a deer in five sequential stances, creating what is believed to be humanity’s first recorded animation.

Hassanpour explained that this prehistoric artwork, dating back thousands of years, showcases early human creativity and innovation.

The ancient petroglyphs and carvings of Lorestan were first introduced to the global community in 1969. These discoveries have since cemented Lorestan’s status as a treasure trove of historical significance, the source claims. This is reported by Tehran Times, a partner of TV BRICS.

Hassanpour also underscored the importance of promoting Lorestan’s rich heritage through tourism. He called for increased investment to elevate the region’s global visibility and support its bid for UNESCO World Heritage recognition.
