Nepal’s film industry to be integrated into BRICS cultural space through TV BRICS
Joint work will begin as early as April at the Nepal International Film Festival in Kathmandu, which will bring together around 40 countries
Nepal’s film industry will be represented in the BRICS information and cultural space and promoted across the Global South. A corresponding cooperation agreement was signed by the Chairperson of the Nepal International Film Festival (NIFF), Kedar Prasad Pathak, and the CEO of the TV BRICS International Media Network, Janna Tolstikova.
The partners intend to work towards promoting national documentary and television cinema, supporting the professional development of industry specialists, and creating joint projects in the field of culture and the arts. As early as April 2026, TV BRICS will act as a media partner of the Nepal International Film Festival (NIFF).
"The Memorandum of Understanding between the Nepal Film Culture Academy (NFCA) and TV BRICS marks an important milestone for our festival. Through this international media partnership, we are looking for an international platform to promote Nepali creativity, art, and our authentic cinematic voices. More importantly, this collaboration is a powerful testament to our shared solidarity with nations of the Global South. By joining hands with TV BRICS, Nepal is proudly contributing to a dynamic new ecosystem of cinematic and cultural exchange that transcends borders and brings our diverse stories to the world"![]()

The Nepal Film & Cultural Academy is a non-profit organisation founded in 2017 to promote national and global film culture in Nepal. It is based in Kathmandu. NFCA organises film festivals, conducts training courses, masterclasses, and other cultural and educational activities.
CEO of TV BRICS Janna Tolstikova noted that the media network currently supports more than 20 major film festivals in Russia, Brazil, India, China, and South Africa, acting as an information partner, participating in competition, business and educational programmes, and organising special screenings.
"It is highly symbolic that practical cooperation between TV BRICS and Nepal begins with joint work at the largest international film festival – the Nepal International Film Festival. In 2026, NIFF will bring together around 40 countries. For TV BRICS, this is an excellent news opportunity to once again highlight the development of cooperation between BRICS and the Global South and, through intercultural dialogue, mark the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and Russia"![]()
