The restoration efforts are crucial for preserving the monument of Persian history
Mohammad Sabet-Eqlidi, the Director-General of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts of Fars Province, announced that more than approximately US$45,000 have been allocated from government funds for the preservation and restoration of the once-prominent royal monument, Sarvestan Palace. He emphasised that the goal is to enhance the visitor experience while ensuring the protection of the historic structure. This is reported by Tehran Times, a partner of TV BRICS.
Sarvestan Palace is part of the “Sassanid Archaeological Landscape of Fars Region,” added to the UNESCO World Heritage list in 2018. The ensemble of eight archaeological sites across Firuzabad, Bishapur, and Sarvestan showcases the intricate use of natural terrain in Sassanid architecture. It also reflects the cultural influences of earlier Achaemenid and Parthian traditions, as well as Roman art, which later influenced Islamic-era architecture.
Famous for its complex architectural features, Sarvestan Palace continues to draw the attention of archaeologists, architects, and art historians, solidifying its significance as a symbol of Sassanid innovation and its lasting influence on Persian cultural heritage.
Experts believe that the conservation and restoration efforts for the Sassanid Palace in Sarvestan are crucial for preserving this invaluable monument of Persian history, ensuring that future generations can continue to admire its beauty and architectural ingenuity.
