South Africa prepares to welcome more tourists from China and India
South Africa is thinking of easing travel restrictions on tourists from China and India in order to increase the flow of tourists from these countries. This is reported by Xinhua News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.
Deputy Minister of Tourism Maggie Sotyu said China and India had great potential to increase arrivals to South Africa, which would have a positive impact on the economy and create opportunities for small businesses.
South Africa's Department of Home Affairs has already announced its intention to accept group visa applications from China and India, setting up a special team to process applications quickly. He also noted the strong political and trade relations between South Africa, China, and India.
"Both countries have large populations and are part of the leading outbound markets. These two countries have strong political ties and significant trade relations with South Africa. The department is very eager to support these initiatives that facilitate ease of access," Sotyu said.
South Africa's Department of Home Affairs also announced the establishment of a Trusted Tour Operator Scheme (TTOS) to boost tourism from China and India, which will be launched in January 2025.
