BRICS+ media landscape strengthens with expert insights from South African international affairs specialists

TV BRICS and a South African media platform to cooperate in promoting humanitarian ties among BRICS members and partner countries

Expert opinions of South African international relations specialists and diplomats will now reach a wider audience across the BRICS+ information space. TV BRICS has launched a new partnership in South Africa with The Diplomatic Society, a media platform specialising in international relations. The Memorandum of Cooperation was signed by TV BRICS CEO Janna Tolstikova and The Diplomatic Society Director Anisha Pemjee.

The partners will collaborate to promote humanitarian and economic cooperation among BRICS members and partner countries, develop professional expert communities, and contribute to an objective analytical assessment of international events in the media landscape.

“Our editorial policy, like TV BRICS, brings balance to the narrative in the global media space. The drumbeat was the first form of wireless communication, and its development to the current digital age of instant communication presents many opportunities for innovation but also exposes many challenges, especially for media practitioners. Balance, as depicted by the yin and the yang portrayed in Asian cultures, still serves as a guide for a fruitful, progressive and profound cooperation between TV BRICS and The Diplomatic Society,” said President of The Diplomatic Society, Kirtan Bhana.

The Diplomatic Society is a pioneering South African media platform focused on international relations and diplomacy. Established in 1997, it conveys South Africa’s perspectives on the global stage and covers issues related to intergovernmental humanitarian, economic, and business cooperation. The platform’s extensive network of authors, diplomatic correspondents, and strategic partners enables the creation of reliable, high-quality content of interest to opinion leaders and an international audience.

According to Evgeniya Tolstoguzova, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Department at TV BRICS, the media network is actively building a database of experts from BRICS+ countries. It currently includes over 200 reputable specialists from Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran, Argentina, Spain, and Chile. Among them are representatives of the Durban University of Technology in South Africa – Professor and Senior Lecturer in the Department of Public Management and Economics Zamokuhle Mbandlwa and Research Fellow Ndivhuho Tshikovhi. These experts provide analysis of key international events and prepare analytical materials on relevant topics for TV BRICS. Other media representatives, university students, and young professionals can also request expert commentary through the feedback form.

Tolstoguzova noted that TV BRICS cooperates with media outlets from eight African countries – in addition to South Africa, these include Egypt, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Mozambique, Nigeria, Tunisia, and Ethiopia. Overall, more than 100 media organisations from 30 countries are currently partners of TV BRICS, with its information presence reaching 80 nations worldwide.
