Iran creates modern foam dressing for wound healing

The product is effective in treating people with genetic skin conditions

A foam dressing for wound healing has been created in Iran. This was reported by NourNews, a partner of TV BRICS.

The development may be useful for treating people with chronic or diabetic wounds and genetic skin conditions such as epidermolysis bullosa. The dressing is made using modern technologies and contains antimicrobial compounds.

The product has already been licensed for production by the Ministry of Health and has received international certificates.

The healing of chronic wounds has always been one of the most challenging stages of treatment. At the same time, the high cost and low effectiveness of conventional dressings, as well as the lack of specialised products, made therapy difficult for many patients. The new invention is expected to solve this problem. Its multilayer foam structure, stable antimicrobial properties and ability to regulate moisture make this product particularly effective.

The manufacturer announced that domestic production of the product has saved US$15.2 million in foreign currency and replaced costly imports of similar products.

Scientific breakthroughs in the medical field are taking place in a number of BRICS countries. For example, in Russia, at the Saratov National Research State University named after N. G. Chernyshevsky, molecules have been created that enhance antibiotics and suppress bacteria resistant to them. This may help medical professionals combat antibiotic-resistant infections, according to the university’s website.


In China, a group of researchers has developed a combination of nanobodies that is effective against severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome – an infectious disease widely known as tick-borne fever, reported China Daily, a partner of TV BRICS.


At the same time, in Brazil, the world's first single-component dengue fever vaccine has been developed. It has been approved for use among the population aged 12 to 59. Immunity is expected to last for five years. Effectiveness against severe forms of the disease reaches 91.6 per cent, reports Brasil de Fato, a partner of TV BRICS.
