Iran’s exports to Africa double to US$675 million in first half of year

Tehran posts strongest mid-year result in a decade as cooperation with African partners intensifies

Iran’s exports to Africa doubled in the first half of the current Iranian calendar year (23 August–22 September), reaching US$675 million. The figure represents 80 per cent of Iran’s total exports to the continent last year. This is reported by Tehran Times, a partner of TV BRICS.

Officials report that the increase reflects growing demand across Africa’s 1.4-billion-strong market. The current trajectory could deliver a ten-year record by the end of the year.

Eight specialised committees under the government’s Africa Headquarters are working on trade priorities, including shipping, air transport, credit lines and agricultural cooperation. Planning is also under way for an Africa Summit in the next Iranian year beginning on 21 March 2026.

The momentum in Iran–Africa trade mirrors broader export gains seen among BRICS and BRICS+ members, where several sectors have recorded substantial growth through product upgrading and long-term market strategies.

For example, Vietnam is projected to surpass US$8 billion in coffee export revenue this year – five years ahead of its original target – after improving product quality, expanding deep-processing capacity and strengthening sustainability standards. This performance, supported by strategic planning and tightening global supply, illustrates how value-added production can accelerate export growth across major emerging markets. This is reported by Vietnam News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.

A similar trend is evident in Brazil, where agribusiness exports reached a new record for the month of October, totalling US$15.49 billion – an 8.5 per cent increase compared with the same period last year. The surge was driven by historic highs in beef and sugar shipments, along with elevated prices for key products such as coffee, as reported by Brasil 247, a partner of TV BRICS. China remained the leading destination for Brazilian agribusiness goods, accounting for 32 per cent of total export earnings that month, followed by Egypt, India and Iran. Over the January–October 2025 period, the country’s agribusiness exports reached US$141.97 billion, marking a 1.4 per cent increase on the previous year.
