Russia to host first BRICS forum on strengthening traditional values
The BRICS forum "Traditional Values" will be held in the Russian capital for the first time from 17 to 20 November. The main theme of the event is "Spiritual and Moral Foundation as a Basis for Successful International Cooperation."
The forum will be attended by members of the parliaments of Brazil, Egypt, India, Russia, Ethiopia, South Africa, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Pakistan, and Uganda, as well as public and cultural figures from China and other BRICS and BRICS+ countries.
The event is aimed at identifying common values of the peoples of the member states of the group, as well as creating a platform for cultural exchange and joint actions in the field of humanitarian cooperation and business activities.
The forum will result in the adoption of a final declaration reflecting joint initiatives and approaches to strengthening traditional values. Specific decisions are expected to be approved in four key areas: culture, family, humanitarian cooperation and creative entrepreneurship.
Speaking about expectations from the upcoming meeting, Jefferson Campos, a member of the Brazilian Chamber of Deputies, emphasised that spiritual and moral principles form the basis of the identity and cohesion of nations.
"I am pleased to be able to support this event and I am confident that it will provide participants with new insights and prepare them for future challenges. In addition, I hope that we can hold this event in Brazil in 2025, when our country will hold the BRICS Presidency. It will be a great opportunity to align our cultural and moral references with the global agenda," he added.
On the first day of the forum, delegates will visit Moscow's iconic spiritual centres. The second and third days will feature round tables on the main topics of the event, as well as sessions on family values, the role of education in their upbringing, international diplomacy and the promotion of spiritual and moral values through the media. On the final day, a cultural programme will be presented to the participants.
