Russian doctors develop new technique for the treatment of rib fractures
Doctors from Surgut have received a patent for an innovative method of surgical treatment of rib fractures. The new procedure involves the insertion of a special fixator into the chest. This method does not disturb soft tissues and keeps the ribs in the correct position. This is reported District broadcaster "Ugra" , a partner of TV BRICS.
According to the head of the Department of Traumatology and Orthopaedics, Sergey Glinyaniy, this approach reduces painful breathing and speeds up the recovery process for patients.
"The introduction of this technique has significantly reduced the number of complications, shortened the time of artificial ventilation and reduced the period of incapacity for work," Glinyaniy said.
The press service of the trauma hospital emphasised that the method will continue to be improved and there are already plans to refine it.
