Saudi Arabia uses artificial intelligence to develop machine interaction with Arabic language

Arabic is the fifth most widely spoken language in the world and the fourth most used language on the Internet

Experts at the King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language are harnessing the power of artificial intelligence to develop machine interaction with Arabic. This is reported by Arab News.

In a major development, the inauguration of the Artificial Intelligence Center for Arabic Language Processing in Riyadh, the first dedicated centre for Arabic natural language processing. The centre aims to drive innovation in the field of language technology by using advanced artificial intelligence techniques to create scientific tools, research methodologies and software applications that improve Arabic language communication across multiple platforms.

Natural Language Processing (NLP) is a crucial area of AI that facilitates the understanding of human language by machines, allowing computers to process spoken and written Arabic speech naturally through a combination of computational linguistics and machine learning techniques.

The centre addresses some of the challenges associated with the use of AI for Arabic, in particular its linguistic diversity, which requires accurate models to represent both classical and colloquial forms.

The establishment of the Centre for Arabic Intelligence is part of Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 initiative, which aligns with the National Strategy for Data and Artificial Intelligence, which aims to place the Kingdom at the global forefront of these technologies.
