South African government funds 35 companies to participate in this year's China International Import Expo
The 35 companies will represent various industries including processing and agriculture, textiles, garments, oil and gas. This is reported by CCTV+, a partner of TV BRICS.
The country's Department of Trade, Industry and Competition said CIIE 2024 is one of the leading themed import fairs in China and a key platform to present offerings to South Africa's largest trading partner.
By funding the companies, the trade authority intends to ensure a greater presence of South African products in China.
"We're able to bring them together under the umbrella of a national pavilion and then showcase a variety of South African products that can be consumed by the Chinese market," said Zanele Mkhize, chief director of export promotion and marketing at the South African Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (DTIC).
He added that the agency provided administrative and financial support to the participants of the event to successfully promote their interests.
Russian enterprises also take part in the exhibition. As Anatoly Garbuzov, Minister of the Moscow City Government and Head of the Department of Industrial and Investment Policy, noted, many companies of the capital's special economic zone (SEZ) pay attention to developing relations with Chinese manufacturers.
"The residents demonstrate successful experience of supplying wafers with microchip crystals, digital educational products and high-tech inspection products to the PRC. During the functioning of the capital's SEZ, the volume of supplies of residents‘ products to various foreign partners has reached almost 7 billion rubles (US$71,8 billion)," he specified.
China International Import Expo 2024 will take place from 5 to 10 November.
