The possibility of reopening an office in Brazil for the Cuban state-run travel agency was also discussed
Brazil and Cuba have strengthened their tourism ties during a meeting held in Rio de Janeiro, where the countries’ tourism ministers discussed initiatives to increase bilateral visitor flows. This is reported by the official website of the Brazilian Government.
Central to the discussions was the proposal of a weekly direct flight between Sao Paulo and Havana, aiming to simplify travel that currently requires connections through other Latin American countries.
The ministers also explored the possibility of reopening a Brazilian office for Cuba’s state travel agency. This office would not only support the promotion of tourist packages but would also address trade-related issues, assisting in the supply of goods and services essential for Cuba’s tourism sector.
Brazilian Minister Celso Sabino highlighted the longstanding friendship between the nations and reiterated their commitment to revitalising direct air travel. The meeting, which also included representatives from Embratur and the UN Tourism Office for the Americas and the Caribbean, underscored the shared desire to strengthen connectivity and collaboration in the tourism industry.
