Brazil becomes first Latin American country to host Russian Seasons

A series of cultural events "Russian Seasons" has come to an end in Brazil. For several months the residents of the Latin American country got acquainted with classical and modern Russian culture, attended performances of Russian theatres and concerts of musical groups, visited exhibitions of artists and masters of arts and crafts. TV BRICS is the general international media partner of the event.

The programme ended with concerts of the Moscow Jazz Orchestra under the direction of Igor Butman, People's Artist of Russia. The performances took place in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.

In his welcoming speech to the participants of the closing ceremony, Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that the "Russian Seasons", which started in 2017, had become a significant event for Russian artists and foreign audiences. 

"It is gratifying that the current 'Russian Seasons' were held at a high level, significantly enriched the palette of Russian-Brazilian humanitarian cooperation, made a creative contribution to strengthening trust and mutual understanding between our countries and peoples, laid a good foundation for new initiatives in the humanitarian sphere"

Brazil became the first country in Latin America to host the "Russian Seasons", which was attended by about 16,000 people. In 2024, the cultural initiative coincided with Russia's chairmanship of BRICS and Brazil's chairmanship of the G20, which was an important milestone not only in the development of relations between the two countries, but also in strengthening humanitarian cooperation within these associations.

In 2024, the international cultural project "Russian Seasons" is being implemented with the support of the Russian government, the Ministries of Culture of Russia and Brazil, as well as the Russian Embassy in the Latin American country.

"Russian Seasons" is held annually in different countries of the world. The initiative is aimed at promoting Russian culture abroad. During the existence of the programme, concerts, exhibitions, performances, film screenings and festivals under its aegis were visited by 13 million people.
