The Government of Brazil, through the National Agency for Technical Assistance and Rural Extension (ANATER), has launched the ATER Mais Leite Brasil (ATER More Milk Brazil) programme designed to strengthen management practices and promote sustainability in the family dairy farming sector, as reported by the government's website.

The initiative was developed by the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Family Farming and will be implemented by ANATER in cooperation with partner entities.

According to experts, the programme is intended to address structural challenges in milk production, with emphasis on increasing productivity, lowering operational costs and improving milk quality. It is noted that technical assistance and rural extension services will support greater production stability throughout the year, particularly in regions affected by seasonal variations.

The programme has received investments of US$5.7 million and is expected to benefit 4,050 families across 27 operational lots, covering every federal unit in the country. Each lot includes 150 families, which will receive technical assistance and rural extension services over an 18-month period focused on productive inclusion and strengthening collective organisations.

Brazilian authorities emphasise that the initiative seeks to support sustainable rural development while enhancing opportunities for family-based agricultural production.
