China has officially inaugurated its first overseas atmospheric background station in Antarctica, marking a major milestone in global climate research. The station will carry out continuous, long-term monitoring of atmospheric components in the Antarctic. Its primary goal is to track shifts in concentrations of atmospheric elements and provide an accurate depiction of the region's atmospheric composition.
