Egypt and the World Bank discuss cooperation in health sector

The two sides reviewed the results of already implemented projects and planned future ones

Egypt's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar met with the World Bank's Regional Director for Human Development Fadia Saada to discuss new projects in the health sector. This is reported by Daily News Egypt, a partner of TV BRICS.

The Egyptian minister and the World Bank representative discussed the introduction of comprehensive health insurance in governorates (administrative divisions of the country), in addition to the existing project to provide medical devices, consumables and medicines.

The talks also reviewed the results of projects implemented by the ministry in cooperation with the World Bank related to the fight against coronavirus (COVID-19), the training of medical personnel and the provision of preventive drugs during the pandemic.

The meeting discussed ways to expand cooperation on sharing experiences with other countries, facilitating access to health services for the elderly in the next 10 years.

The World Bank representative expressed satisfaction with the results of the Egyptian authorities' actions in key health areas and called for a high-level meeting in October to review support for medical education in the country and other issues.
