Egypt submits national aviation action plan through 2028

Egypt has formally presented its National Action Plan for the Civil Aviation Sector through 2028, marking a significant step in aligning the country’s air transport development with global sustainability standards. This is reported by Sada El-Balad, a partner of TV BRICS.

The plan is designed to enhance the competitiveness of the civil aviation sector while strengthening its contribution to economic growth, tourism and international connectivity.

Developed through institutional cooperation between Egypt’s civil aviation authorities and international aviation safety partners, the plan was prepared with the participation of key national stakeholders across air transport, airports and air navigation services.

According to the plan, international air traffic involving Egypt is projected to grow by around 6 per cent annually through 2027 and by 7 per cent per year up to 2050. This outlook has prompted the adoption of immediate operational measures to ensure that expansion remains environmentally sustainable and fully aligned with international commitments.

The roadmap includes improving operational and air navigation efficiency, advancing aircraft technologies and standards, introducing sustainable aviation fuel, developing green airports and optimising flight routes within Egyptian airspace.

In total, 25 operational measures have been approved to reduce fuel consumption and emissions over the next three years, including enhanced continuous descent operations and reduced reliance on ground power units.
