India top medal table at ISSF Junior World Cup in rifle and shotgun shooting in Egypt

Indian athletes secured five gold medals

India’s national team finished first in the overall medal standings at the ISSF Junior World Cup in rifle and shotgun shooting, held in Cairo. The team collected 16 medals: five gold, six silver and five bronze, according to ANI, a partner of TV BRICS.

Three Indian shooters won gold medals in individual events. Shiva Narwal took first place in the 10m air pistol. Prachi Gaikwad won the 50m rifle three positions event among women. Vanshika Chaudhary secured gold in the women’s 10m air pistol.

India claimed another gold in a mixed team event. Shambhavi Shravan Kshirsagar and Divyanshu Dewangan won the final in the 10m air rifle mixed team event, setting a junior world record of 499.9 points.

A total of 284 shooters from 26 countries took part in the Cairo stage of the World Cup. India fielded the largest team, with 71 athletes.

Athletes from BRICS+ countries continue to demonstrate strong performances across various sports, regularly reaching the podium at international competitions.

The Brazil national rhythmic gymnastics team won a silver medal at the Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup stage in Baku in the five balls event, scoring 26.350 points, according to Agencia Brasil. A week earlier, Brazilian gymnasts also took silver at the Tashkent stage in the three hoops and two pairs of clubs event, finishing behind only the team from China.

Misgana Wakuma delivered Ethiopia’s first-ever medal at the World Athletics Race Walking Team Championships, held in Brasilia. In the half marathon, the 21-year-old clocked 1 hour 27 minutes 33 seconds to finish second, reports Fana Media Corporation (FMC), a partner of TV BRICS.

Chinese professional snooker player Zhao Xintong won the 2026 Tour Championship. He became the first player to win all three Players Series events (a group of ranking tournaments combined into one series) in a single season. Earlier in the 2025/2026 season, he won the World Grand Prix and the Players Championship. This success confirmed his excellent form, writes Global Times, a partner of the media network. Zhao Xintong won every final he played in. This victory brought the 29-year-old his sixth ranking title.
