Iran and Kazakhstan explore joint film projects and cultural exchanges

Iran’s Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance stressed the role of language and linguistics as important tools for bilateral engagement

In a meeting with Kazakhstan's Ambassador to Tehran Ontalap Onalbayev, Iran's Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Seyyed Abbas Salehi emphasised the strong cultural and historical ties between Iran and Kazakhstan, highlighting language, art, and philosophy as key bridges for deepening cooperation. This is reported by Pars Today, a partner of TV BRICS.

Welcoming the idea of holding cultural weeks in both countries, Salehi noted Iran's active film industry, producing between 80 to 100 feature films annually. He expressed hope that a memorandum of understanding in the field of cinema would help achieve shared cultural goals with Kazakhstan.

He also stressed the role of language and linguistics as important tools for bilateral engagement and pointed to the potential of artistic collaboration – particularly in classical, contemporary, and regional music – as promising areas for cultural exchange.

Salehi voiced optimism about producing joint artistic works, including films, which he said could foster a sense of shared identity.

Kazakhstan’s Ambassador Onalbayev, for his part, praised Iranian cinema and reiterated the strong political ties between the two countries. He noted that the two nations also maintain constructive cooperation within regional organisations.
