Iran localises 5G NR to improve national telecom capabilities

This capability improves data speeds and enhances user experiences for online services

A knowledge-based Iranian company has successfully localised 5G NR (5th Generation New Radio) technology, which is expected to significantly reduce data transfer latency and improve both security and system stability. This is reported by Mehr News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.

The domestically developed 5G system supports both SA (Standalone) and NSA (Non-Standalone) modes, allowing operators to deploy independent 5G networks even without 4G infrastructure. This capability improves data speeds and enhances user experiences for streaming and online services.

According to the company, the shift to 5G is not only a technical necessity but also an economic imperative to maintain competitiveness and sustainable growth within Iran’s telecom ecosystem.

The system can be customised to meet specific industrial needs, making it suitable for telecom operators, ICT firms, power plants, petrochemical companies, mines, automotive manufacturers, and other major sectors.

Looking ahead, the company stressed the importance of attracting investment into technology to generate added value, innovation, and job creation, aligning with Iran’s 1404 (2025-2026) development vision of “Investment for Production”.
