Iran's President Raisi describes joining BRICS as important achievement of country in foreign policy
Iran's accession to BRICS has become an important achievement in the country's foreign policy. President Ebrahim Raisi said this in an address to the nation on the occasion of Nowruz, the New Year of the Iranian solar calendar. This is reported by Mehr News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.

The president added that the volume of foreign investment for the year totalled about US$11 billion. The Iranian leader said that the next (1403 Iranian calendar) year "will be the year of greater prosperity in production and economy." He noted that the government has set as one of its main goals to further reduce inflation.
Iran joined BRICS on 1 January 2024. The republic received an offer to become part of the alliance following a summit in Johannesburg in August 2023. Argentina, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Ethiopia, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates also received invitations. Argentina later declined to join the alliance.
