Isfahan province registers 55 new heritage sites on Iran’s national list
The registrations cover both movable and immovable heritage
Isfahan province has added 55 new sites to Iran’s National Heritage List, according to the provincial Department of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts.
As reported by IRNA, a partner of TV BRICS, the announcement was made by department spokesperson Mohammad Fasihei, following a National Heritage Registration Council meeting hosted in Kashan.
The registrations cover both movable and immovable heritage. Among the most notable additions is the historic Esḥaqieh Houses complex in Isfahan – a long-standing demand of heritage advocates and residents – which will now benefit from stronger protection.
The list further includes important religious and public buildings, such as the Jameh Mosque of Ghamsar, the Kalhor Mosque, the Kouche Haram Mosque in Kashan, and shrines including Imamzadeh Qasem in Estarg and Imamzadeh Abbas in Taherabad.
Other newly registered sites comprise the traditional water reservoirs in Gerycheh and Darvazeh Ghadir, the Khatouni Mill in Barzok, and the Varakan village watchtower. Notably, the modern-era Polar Building in central Isfahan, dating from the Pahlavi period, and the city’s last surviving traditional icehouse in Kouhestanak were also added.
With these registrations, the total number of nationally listed heritage sites in Isfahan province has now reached around 2,350.
