The Republic of Zimbabwe is witnessing growing interest in Russian classical music and strengthening cultural exchange with Russia through TV BRICS. The International Media Network, together with its African partner – the national broadcaster Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) – has organised a new radio series on Classic 263 (92.8 FM, Harare, part of ZBC), featuring unique works provided by the Russian State Music Television and Radio Centre "Orpheus".

In the second season of the programme "Russian Music Night", masterpieces by 19th- and 20th-century composers will be broadcast for the people of Zimbabwe. These include Pyotr Tchaikovsky ("Swan Lake" and "The Seasons"), Modest Mussorgsky ("Pictures at an Exhibition"), Aleksander Borodin ("Prince Igor"), Aleksey Zhivotov ("Theatrical Suite Op. 16" for symphony orchestra), and Vasily Kalinnikov ("Symphony No. 1").

“Our cooperation continues to develop: this autumn, the Orpheus television and radio centre has prepared special programmes for Classic 263’s audience, offering a new way to experience Russian culture. The language of classical music is universal – it requires no translation. We are confident that the works of the great Russian composers of the early 20th century will resonate deeply with listeners in Zimbabwe. We are glad that this dialogue not only continues but reaches new heights, strengthening cultural and friendly ties between our countries,” said Irina Gerasimova, CEO and Artistic Director of the Television and Radio Centre "Orpheus".

The "Russian Music Night" series will air on Classic 263 every Tuesday at 23:30 local time (22:30 Moscow time). The second season comprises 13 episodes of 30 minutes each.

"The 'Russian Music Night' broadcast on ZBC Classic 263 Radio from May to August 2025 at 21:30 hours every Tuesday was an exhilarating experience, showcasing the rich cultural heritage and diversity of Russian music. The selection of composers was impressive, ranging from classical composers to modern-day composers. The hosts' enthusiasm and knowledge of the subject matter added to the excitement, making the show engaging and informative,” said Terrance Mapurisana, Classic 263 Station Manager.

In 2024, the TV BRICS International Media Network organised another programme on Classic 263 dedicated to Russian classical music of the first half of the 20th century. Earlier, musical programmes by "Orpheus" were also broadcast on Brazil’s Toda Palavra and Rádio Cultura Brasil stations.
