Putin calls the level of Russia-China relations unprecedentedly high
Chinese President Xi Jinping held a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the eve of the Chinese New Year. The leaders of the two countries summarised the results of strategic cooperation over the last period. This is reported by the official website of the President of the Russian Federation.
Politicians praised the strengthening of bilateral trade relations, in particular the achievement of a record trade turnover of 227.7 billion US dollars.
Xi recalled that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Russia. He expressed Beijing's readiness to boost co-operation with Moscow in many areas, including energy, finance, infrastructure, industry and agriculture, and humanitarian exchanges.
The Chinese leader also announced his intention to expand co-operation with Russia in the international arena – on the BRICS, SCO and UN platforms.
In turn, Putin thanked the Chinese President for supporting the priorities of Russia's BRICS chairmanship in 2024. The President pointed to the "unprecedentedly high level" of Russian-Chinese relations.
The parties agreed to continue contacts and expand areas of co-operation.
We shall remind you that last October Putin and Xi held talks in Beijing at the One Belt, One Road forum.
