Russian cities welcome the Total Dictation
The motor race of the global initiative "Total Dictation" has been launched in Russia. A group of cars will drive nearly 10 000 kilometers from Vladivostok to Tallinn. The race will take 29 days. During this time, the project team will visit 27 cities.
The team consists of philologists, linguists and writers. They all participate in the race andwrite a book about Russia and their Total Travel. Today Chelyabinsk welcomes the guests.
"The Total Dictation car team have made their way of about 4 000 kilometers from Vladivostok, and they have more than half-way ahead. Chelyabinsk citizens will be given an opportunity to join the event, participate in contests, win prizes, and also to spend a funny and interesting day off", says the project coordinator in Chelyabinsk Zoya Potapova.
The citizens of the cities where the Total Dictation stays can try their hand in various competitions. In their turn, native language specialists give popular scientific lectures about literacy, conduct researches in the field of toponymics.
This year, the Total Dictation will be held on April 13. Those who want to check theirmastery of Russian,register on the official site of the Dictation and choose the most convenient place for taking this educational test.
To recap, this year, the Total Dictation initiative will celebrate its 15th anniversary. The first dictation was conducted for only 150 participants by the students of the Novosibirsk State University in 2004. Today hundreds of thousands of people take part in this event, in Russia and abroad.
