UAE authorities outline prospects for National Biofuels Policy
UAE officials have revealed details of the National Biofuels Policy recently approved by the UAE Cabinet of Ministers. The programme supports the country's transition to clean and sustainable energy sources. This is reported by Emirates News Agency (WAM), a partner of TV BRICS.
The National Biofuels Policy was developed by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure in coordination with strategic partners from the public and private sectors to further diversify the energy industry.
According to Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, the programme will play an important role in achieving decarbonisation goals. The measures to be taken should help reduce carbon dioxide emissions by increasing biodiesel consumption by 20 per cent by 2050.
He added that the National Biofuels Policy will help achieve the goals of the UAE's Energy Strategy 2050.
The official noted that the Ministry of Environment is working with its partners to develop regulations and control measures to oversee the distribution of biofuels, as well as setting standards governing the production and use of such feedstock.
