Brazil implements new rules for the safe transport of animals on flights

The initiative aims to improve animal safety when travelling

The Brazilian Ministry of Ports and Airports presented new rules for the transport of pets on commercial flights in the country. This is reported by TV CULTURA, a partner of TV BRICS.

The project aims to improve animal safety and bring national regulations into line with international standards.

The improvement plan includes veterinary support at airports, animal tracking during the transport process and the creation of a direct communication channel with the animal's owner. Airlines must implement these changes within 30 days.

The measures are not legislative, but are based on voluntary commitments signed between the ministry and the companies, and will be monitored by the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC). Airlines must also inform ANAC every month of the number of animals being transported.

This measure comes amid growing demand for animal transport services. According to data from Brazil's Ministry of Ports and Airports, around 80,000 animals are transported every year.
