Brazil sets new record with over 656,000 youth in professional apprenticeship programmes
From January to April 2025, more than 57,000 new apprenticeship contracts were registered
Brazil has reached a historic milestone in youth employment, with over 656,000 young people currently engaged in professional apprenticeship programmes. This is reported by the official website of the Brazil's Ministry of Labour and Employment.
From January to April 2025, more than 57,000 new apprenticeship contracts were registered, surpassing the same period in 2024, as part of an expanding public policy effort focused on inclusion and professional qualification.
The industrial sector led apprentice hiring in the first four months of 2025, contributing over half of the total with 32,857 new contracts, followed by services, commerce, construction, and agriculture. Demographic data shows that over half of those hired are girls, and a majority are still completing basic or secondary education.
According to the source, public dialogue has also been central to strengthening the policy. Since 2023, the government has prioritised youth professional development by reactivating the National Apprenticeship Forum and launching the National Pact for Productive Inclusion of Youth.
